  1. I mean good golly, the scientist who created them know that compulsive altruism is a genetic function present in most garroulous species, why ever would they build that control into a handmade race of potential overlords?

      Not being that scientist, I can’t say for sure, but I’d guess either because compulsive altruism is counter-productive to a race of (mostly) soldiers and assassins, or because all of the genes they spliced in were from primates.

    I don’t see how a comparatively small group of Genie is supposed to affect the economy of billions of people on Earth…

      That’s something they’ll get into in a little more depth in the next couple of pages, but essentially, yes, there are not that many Genie with jobs or looking for jobs compared to the overall population.

        I think Genies would probably actually stimulate the economy, they wouldn’t become dangerous as a faction (even without altruist genes) unless they have significant numbers.
